Jo Harrop

It was rock icon Iggy Pop who gave Jo her first break when he read the 4 star review of her album 'Weathering The Storm' in the Guardian, and played her on his BBC Radio 6 music show, stating that she was a ‘very fine jazz singer’.

Now an award-winning recording artist and songwriter, Jo was recently chosen to support Gregory Porter’s 13 date UK Tour in 2025, which included 4 nights at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

Throughout her career she has also worked with the likes of Christian McBride, Paul Edis, Anthony Wilson and Marcus Bonafanti, having graced the stage at venues such as Newcastle City Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Manchester Arena and Dizzys at the Lincoln Center in New York.

Jo received a raft of rapturous reviews for her first four albums, all released on Lateralize records. Her records ‘When Winter Turns to Spring’ won album of the year at The 2023 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, and ‘The Path Of A Tear’, produced by Larry Klein, received multiple four and five star reviews across the world.

In addition to working with Larry Klein  (Joni Mitchell, Melody Gardot & Norah Jones) Jo has also collaborated with a whole host of top producers such as Chris Seefried (Lady Blackbird), Hannah V (Lalah Hathaway & JP Cooper) and Jamie McCredie.

Effortlessly blurring the lines between jazz and blues, Jo’s warm, smoky tones capture the most delicate of dynamics. Infusing flavours of Americana, folk and latin music, her mellifluous vocals reveal a seldom-found intimacy.

“Her voice is delicious. When she sings, she moves me. Jo Harrop is a very fine jazz singer... a superb and unimaginably good vocalist”
