'Afro Baroque'

"Afro Baroque" is a multi-cultural collaboration between International- award-winning Jerusalem-born pianist and composer Yakir Arbib, and Manu Dibango's Cameroonian virtuoso drummer/ vocalist Conti Bilong.

Despite hailing from two highly contrasting musical backgrounds, Arbib and Bilong both felt an instant connection upon meeting for the first time in Paris in July 2023. A sort of musical “love at first sight” resulted from the chemistry of this unlikely encounter; the name says it all. 

The two musicians explore traditional rhythms from central Africa and the Middle East, fusing them together in a unique musical language which amalgamates Baroque-style counterpoint and dynamic jazz interplay.

Although Afro Baroque are a new band on the international map, the Paris-based duo have fast been garnering attention and acclaim from concert organizers and musical supporters alike. A recent sold-out performance at the Colosseum in Rome resulted in numerous invitations to perform in Italy in 2025, and an offer from the English “Elsden Music” label to produce and distribute the band’s first album.​
